15th, Thursday, 7 pm, Church of the Open Door
United Church of Christ invites the community to a special observance
of Mental Health Month. This event will include candle lighting
and a presentation “You Are Not Alone” by a representative of NAMI St.
Louis. Mental health professionals, consumers and family members are
especially invited to attend. Church of the Open Door is located at

17th, Saturday, SUMMER WORK DAYS at Camp Mo-Val.
Help build the new Welcome Center and Office. Slowly, the old
maintenance building (the eye-sore at the entrance of the camp) is
being transformed into the new Welcome Center & Office. A new roof is
in place, and the ceiling has been dry walled and insulated. Work is
progressing on the plumbing, interior framing, masonry work and
heating and cooling systems. Volunteers are needed for the following
tasks: electrical work, interior framing, drywall and insulation -
walls, window and door installation, interior and exterior finish
work, landscaping, painting, etc. The work day is generally from
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., though early and late arrivals are welcome.
Lunch will be provided. INTERESTED in lending a helping hand or

18th, Sunday, 4-6 pm, Conference-wide farewell &
celebration of ministry for Rev. John Dorhauer, Associate Conference
Minister. Located at Columbia UCC, Columbia. The Missouri
Mid-South Conference will gather to celebrate John Dorhauers' ministry
in our midst and to say “farewell” and thank you. There will be
several opportunities to recognize the many contributions he has made
during his years in our midst. There will be worship with the “Service
for Ending an Authorized Ministry,” a time for sharing remembrances,
and an occasion for gift-giving. It has been our custom when
Conference staff move on to invite colleagues, churches and others to
make a monetary contribution to be given to John during as an
expression of appreciation. Our pooled resources will make a memorable
gift for John. For those who want to be part of this Conference gift,
contributions may be sent to the Missouri Mid-South Conference, 411

for John’s gift. Of course, cards and other expressions of love and

dedicate our new Rodger's Three Manual Trillium Organ to the glory of
God. The recital will feature four gifted organists: Kenneth
Kohler, representative of Rodger's Organ Co.; Kathleen Stahlhut, COTM
organist; Yvonne Sullivan, past COTM organist; and Bonnie Wilson,
guest organist (recently featured in ShareHolder magazine). A

This preaching conference features well-known scholars and preachers.

20th, Tuesday, 11 am, the annual golf
tournament benefiting ECM will be held at Forest Park Golf
Club in St. Louis, MO. Registration costs only $75 per person and
includes 18 holes of golf (in a 4-person scramble format with a
shotgun start), a golf cart, a box lunch before the tournament, and
burgers, hotdogs and awards immediately following the tournament!
Check-in is at 11:00 and golfing begins at 12:00. Reservations

of the registration process, you will be asked to list any and all
names of your foursome (if you have them), to help the organizers know
where to put you.
21st, Wednesday, 7:30 am, join the Parkway UCC
men's club for breakfast and conversation with Roxanne Crawford,
programs director at Neighborhood Houses. She will be discussing the
physical needs of their facilities, in particular at St. James Center.
There are many repairs and renovations that could be done by talented
UCC members, rather than contracting out jobs with money that can be

of Christ in Bem, Missouri will be once again hosting their widely
celebrated Bem Church Picnic. They will be serving Homemade Ice
Cream; Juicyburgers; fish sandwiches, and the famous roast beef
sandwiches that all of Gasconade County talks about! Mouthwatering
pies and another serving of homemade ice cream round up the menu for a
picnic that can't be beat. They will also have a quilt auction
at 7pm; a book sale, country store, a bounce house and other games for
