Shannondale Community Center is a Mission project
of the Missouri Mid-South Conference UCC serving the spiritual,
educational and economic needs of Shannon and the surrounding counties
through its many functions. Shannondale also encompasses the Bucher
Memorial Tree Farm, the oldest continuing tree farm in the state of
Missouri. The tree farm illustrates our continuing commitment to God's
land and its resources. The Wobus Crafts Center was established to
serve as an outlet for local artisans to supplement their incomes. The
center features baskets, woodwork, quilts and other handmade items.
Shannondale provides varied lodging arrangements for families and
groups on service projects, work camps or retreats. |

Tornado Strikes Shannondale in May 2009

Pictures are worth a thousand words. In
this case it rings true, so we wanted to share with you some
pictures that were taken the day after the tornado that struck Salem
County and Shannondale. |

There are several trees down on the
church and parish grounds and only one tree down at Timber
Lodge (the big one in front of the house), and it fell away
from the buildings. |
|
Jeff Fulk said that he has everything
under control for cleaning up the trees. |
 |

 |
|
A logger will be called in for the
bigger trees and a group of forestry students will be put to
work cleaning up the smaller stuff, since they had requested
a service project. |
|
Friends of Shannondale took a generator
to use there because they had two freezers full of food that
won’t be in danger of spoiling now. |
 |

|
There is a lot of damage in the area and
several people in Shannon County had major damage to their
homes. Some will probably have to rebuild. |
|
We need to do what we can to help these
folks. |

By the grace of God, all the downed
trees fell away from the buildings. |
|
On initial inspection there is no
apparent significant damage to any of the buildings or
roofs. |
